Recently announced, Wild Eye Releasing has acquired distribution rights for indie horror film Bonejangles, a unique take on the slasher genre directed by Brett DeJager. Not to be confused with that lovable lounge lizard from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride or that derby hat-wearing scoundrel from Scooby-Doo, DeJager’s Bonejangles is an unapologetic killing machine in the vein of horror icons like Micheal Myers and Jason Voorhees.
While the film itself looks okay for an independent production, at the very least the film crew’s honest love for the genre is apparent, what really caught my attention was the film’s unique premise. Essentially, it’s Halloween meets Return of the Living Dead guest-starring Reggie from Phantasm!
While transporting the unstoppable killer Bonejangles to an asylum, a group of police officers encounter a hellish pit stop: a cursed town where the dead rise from their graves. Now the only way to save their lives and the town is to release Bonejangles and fight the curse…with something much worse.
